Helio actually was hamming it up for me in the garage but the shot came out pretty well!
Chip and Tessa Ganassi
Seeing these two together all weekend was the highlight for me of the trip.
The great Don Prudhomme
I am lucky to have got to know Don pretty well over the past few years and he is a very cool guy. A very fast one. Its all in his eyes!
Chip entertains his guests pre-race
Chip and the drivers gave a fun introduction to the assembled VIP guests in the hospitality, and as you can see, everyone appreciated the insight on what is a tough day ahead.
A private moment with Chip,Tony, Scott and Dario
Just before the team make the walk to the grid, Chip gathers his inner circle for a few minutes in the garage. I felt very honored to be invited.
The great man walks the grid at Indy and while I took two photos, this one where he didn't know I was there is the best!
A long walk
Two lovely ladies
Mummy Franchitti and Beth Paretta take a stroll
Love these guys! How did he land someone that beautiful.....?!
Tessa (and sort of her mum Cara as well)
Dave and Kristen
It was great meeting these guys as part of the Ganassi party. And they can show their new baby where it was a few months before it was born!
Kenny Brack and Stefan Johansen catch up on the grid.
Sebastian Bourdais and his children
I was particularly struck by this moment. In our racing world we sometimes forget the family that the racer does it all for, and I remember being these kids myself.
What a change a year brings. What was going through his mind standing on the grid?
I stood with Anna where she has watched her father start this race for many years. This time she was nervous for a different reason, watching her boyfriend Sage Karam take the green at Indy for the first time.
Dario and Holly Weldon
I am so happy I caught this moment.
Time to strap it all in!
Juan Montoya and son
An intimate moment of a private man. I liked Juan even more after taking this shot for some reason.
In the final moments before the start, each person in this photo has very different thoughts in their minds. I really hoped that Juan wouldn't see me taking this picture - I didn't want to intrude in any way.
Sometimes you need all the support you can get, from here and there.....
Now he has stood on that grid a few times! Smiles more now than he did then though!
Double trouble - Mark and John try to look like they belong...:)
Is that the guy with the digital camera?
Lynn St. James
I love Lynn and want to take her portrait properly but the grid at Indy is a perfect place to find her!
Ganassi pit lane. Ready.
Montoya and Dixon. Presented.
Juan is actually recording this moment on his iPhone. While everyone else records him.
